Term 4 Staffing update
Jeanette Allen – We will farewell Jeanette this week as she heads interstate to live in South Australia. Jeanette has supported our school for a number of years in many roles and we are very thankful to have had her expertise in our school.
Amelia Kenny – We farewell Amelia at the end of this Term and thank her for her efforts supporting our Year 3/4 class. Good luck in your next adventure.
Lauren Sackley - We welcome Lauren back in Term 4 from maternity leave.
Kerrie Riewoldt – Kerrie has been on extended sick leave this Term however we are very thankful that her health has improved and we will welcome her back in Term 4.
Lauren Parker - Will depart early Term 4 for baby no 2, good luck Lauren!
At the end of this Term, we will farewell our Canteen Manager Lisa, who we congratulate on her new role with the Tasmanian School Canteen Association. Her appointment has supported us to make changes around how we structure canteen staff in our school and we have decided to engage with a company called Lil Tuckers Lil Tuckers Canteen - Home | Facebook. Lil Tuckers work with several schools in Tasmania and support the food service utilising school infrastructure already in place.
For our school community, Term 4 will look very similar to how the canteen has run previously. You will still order via Qkr! or using the paper bag system, counter sales will be available recess and lunch and we continue to hold Gold Canteen Accreditation. We expect this to be a smooth transition and welcome feedback from our community in Term 4.
Eat After Play Trial
After extensive research and consultation with relevant stakeholders, we have decided to trial a change in how we structure eating and play times across our school. Traditionally we have always supported students to eat recess and lunch before going outside to play and exercise. School data and the latest research is suggesting that there are a range of benefits to play/exercise first, then eat:
- Students don’t rush to eat before going out to play.
- Reduced food waste as students are more relaxed to finish food.
- Less litter across the school.
- Eating time can be used to support student regulation (ready to learn).
- Teachers have opportunity to debrief playground issues with students during eating time.
We will use Term 4 as a trial for this new structure and ask for feedback from parents, students and staff during the Term. We will also collect data on student wellbeing and behaviour to support evidence of future decisions. This feedback will then inform our decision making for 2022.
A reminder to families that hats will again be compulsory for all students in Term 4. If students are not wearing a hat they will be required to sit in the shade in our courtyard. A further reminder that week 2 in Term 4 is show week, this means a public holiday on the Thursday and student free day Friday.

In Prep/1A we have been learning about 3D shapes.
The children have been learning the names of common 3D shapes such as cylinder, cone, sphere, cube and rectangular prism or cuboid.
The children have learned that 3D shapes have sides, corners, and faces, curved surfaces and that a cone has a point.
To make learning about 3D shapes fun and memorable, the children made and decorated a cylinder, a cone party hat and used yarn to make a sphere.
In Prep/1 Seymour we have been working on writing, ordering and remembering our numbers to 100!
Last week we went outside and Miss Seymour gave us chalk and whiteboards to use.
With a partner, we took turns sequencing our numbers until we hit 100!
Just a reminder that students would have received a Uniform Pre-Order form for 2022.
We would like these completed and returned to the office as soon as possible to ensure we have ample time to order the items needed and have them in stock ready for the start of 2022.
If you require another copy please let the office know and we can arrange for one to be sent home with students.
Do you have a child born in 2017?
