Principal's Report

I would like to take this opportunity to thank our community for their support over the past week with COVID-19 concerns in the greater Hobart area. On Monday we had 12 students attend school on site which supported the limited movement of persons across the south of the state. Beginning yesterday I am pleased to report that everyone in our community is supporting the mask wearing and doing all they can to keep each other safe! We will continue to follow Public Health guidelines and encourage parents/carers to use our kiss and drop area and external classroom doors.

Swimming Carnival

It was fantastic to attend and support the Year 3-6 Swimming Carnival last Tuesday, students performed to a high standard and the enthusiasm and support for teammates was outstanding. Students participated in traditional swimming events while also having the option to participate in novelty events in the smaller pool.

The results on the day were:

1st - Emerald

2nd - Ruby

3rd - Sapphire

Show Day – Student Free Day (Friday)

A reminder that there is no school tomorrow due to Hobart Show Day holiday. Then on Friday staff will be on site undertaking professional learning while children have a Student Free Day. We will welcome all students back to school next Monday ready to tackle the final 8 weeks of 2021!

Trial of Play Before We Eat

I am very pleased to report that initial feedback from our play before eat trial has been very positive. Teachers are reporting students returning to class calm and eager to eat which is supporting regulation. Students are enjoying heading straight outside to play and not rushing to finish off food. We will continue to seek feedback as the term goes on before making any decisions re 2022, I encourage parents/carers to contact me with any feedback also.

Hats in the playground during break times

I would like to remind our community that in Term 4 we require all students and staff to wear hats when outside. This is part of our Sun Safe Policy and links with our Eat Well, Move Well Policy. If students forget to wear a hat outside then they will be directed to a shade area in their learning/play space.
