3/4 Pearce

This Term in 3/4 Pearce we have been learning about what causes day and night. As part of our inquiry, we conducted a science experiment. We recorded the length and direction of a shadow as it moved throughout the day. Some students predicted the shadow would be longer in the middle of the day. Others predicted it would be longest in the morning and afternoon. Students used their understanding of how the earth, sun and moon move to inform their predictions. Our results showed that shadows were longest in the morning and afternoon and shortest in the middle of the day.

In Week 8 we went on our first excursion of the year. We went to the Cenotaph and students learned about the significance of the site. From the Cenotaph, we walked to the Botanical Gardens along Soldiers Memorial Avenue. On the walk students recorded information about soldiers who died in World War One.
